At first glance, this stately home in Cajun Country it looks more like several houses than one, with its charming jumble of gables, connected brick buildings, and long frontage facing the Vermilion River in Lafayette, Louisiana. The home, designed by Mike Landry, took three years to build, and was made with entertainment in mind. Karen Waterfield and team at Sugar Beach Interiors designed the furnishings, window treatments, kitchen cabinets, and all the other interior details in the five-bedroom, five-bathroom home with an additional six half-baths, sewing room, trophy room, and more. One focal point is the formal dining room with an antique table capable of seating twenty, which Karen found at a dealer in Baton Rouge. Also vital to have in the home was a buffet that could accommodate the nineteenth-century china the homeowner inherited from her great-grandmother. The kitchen features a Lacanche chef’s range, a butler’s pantry, and custom cabinetry built locally by Kenneth Lagneaux. Sugar Beach Interiors worked with 8 Five 0, a tile design studio in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, to create custom mosaics in the master bath and backsplashes in the bathrooms and kitchen.
